KWBF Song Writing Contest

The song writing contest is open to anyone who writes original music and
who is not currently signed to a recording or publishing deal. Contestants
are judged on the quality of the song’s composition. The songs submitted
should be either country or bluegrass.

2010 Rules and Guidelines
Submissions for the 2010 KWBF song writing contest will be accepted,
beginning November 16, 2009. The entrance fee is $25 per song. Contestants
may submit up to two original songs. Submit by mail: send us a CD (no
cassette tapes) with the songs/tracks for consideration clearly specified. Please
enclose checks for $25/song payable to the Lenoir Community Foundation.
Limit 2 songs per person. Recordings will not be returned. Send your CD, typed
lyrics, entry form, and entry fee to: KWBF Song writing Contest PO Box 188
Kinston, NC 28502 Attn: Jeanne Kennedy Contestants cannot be signed to a
major label or publishing deal. This competition is meant for emerging and
independent songwriters. All CDs must be received, not postmarked, by
February 8, 2010 to be eligible. Recommended time limit: 4 minutes or
less per song. Points will be deducted for significantly exceeding this limit. All
songs must be original. Finalist will be notified on Monday, February 15, 2010.
Paid performers of the KWBF may not compete. Instruments allowed are those
that can be carried out to the microphone with the performer. Contestants may
perform solo or have 2 accompanists. Please include a lyric sheet with your
submission. The finalists will perform on Friday, February 26 at the KWBF.

Indemnity and Release
Signature on entry form constitutes each song submitted
is an original work and releases the Lenoir Community College Foundation,
Lenoir Community College, and the Kinston Winter Bluegrass Festival from
all liability. Entry also constitutes permission to use winner’s name and likeness
for future advertising and publicity without compensation.

2010 Prizes
1st Place: $100 2nd Place: $50

Proceeds benefit the scholarship program at Lenoir Community College.
