"clean cut" acoustic band plays some traditional and some not so traditional bluegrass. Strong lead vocals and sweet harmony. "Not your daddy's bluegrass" is our slogan. Red Henry of "Red And Murphy" and David McLaughlin formerly of "The Johnson Mt. Boys" joined the band in 2005. These professionals are a true asset to the group. They are exceptional musicians and add a third and sometimes a fourth part harmony vocal. They also will sing a lead vocal now and then. The people that we have played for have enjoyed the versatility of the sounds they hear. Many listeners, who admitted to us that they didn't usually like bluegrass music until they heard us,were really surprised & enjoyed the familiar "oldies" to bluegrass and the stories some of the songs told. They said that there was "something for everyone" in the crowd. Songs like: "Me and Bobby McGee", "All My Lovin' ", "Hey Good Lookin' ", "Teach your Children", "House of the Rising Sun", & Jose'Feliciano's "Rain" are but just a few of the fun lyrics sung by this band. We also do many standard bluegrass tunes such as: "Salt Creek", "Old Joe Clark", and "John Henry". We enjoy playing for Community and Bluegrass Festivals, Weddings, Vineyard events, Pig Roasts, Craft Fairs, & Concerts. The members of this band are easy to work with and you can rely on this band for a great job when booked. We have also performed at Magpie's in Middleburg, Va., The Blue Ridge Arts Council's - Gazebo Gatherings in Front Royal, VA.,and Capon Springs Farms & Resort in Capon Springs, WV. In Winchester,Virgina we have performed for Apple Harvest Festival , Richards Fruit Market, Marker-Miller Orchard, Relief Methodist Church's fall BBQ, Literacy Volunteer's 1st Annual Pig Roast, and many private parties and events. At one private party a very distinguished guest sang a few Gospel numbers with us. That was United States Attorney General, John Ashcroft. Please consider our band "Sweetwater String Band" for your events and concerts. Our fee is negotiable and is determined by the job and location.
