Greetings and salutations to all faithful
Bluegrass Gospel fans. DELTA BLUE is
continuing on in 2011 with a FULL
schedule! Our singing, picking, & praising
ministry for our LORD JESUS CHRIST has
always been our purpose. GOD has
blessed our group's efforts with many
opportunities to spread HIS GOSPEL these
past TEN years in ways we could never
have imagined. Praise the LORD! Through
HIS providence and guiding Hand, we have
been allowed many pleasure-filled and
Spirit-filled moments of worship through
music and fellowship with varied
audiences!
Our recent FREE ADMISSION BLUEGRASS
GOSPEL CONCERTS held in January,
February, and March were TREMENDOUS
SUCCESSES,..ATTENDANCE-WISE! We hope
that everyone who attended had as much
fun as DELTA BLUE band members had!
The other groups, including individual
instrumentalists, dancers, singers, and
YES, EVEN THE PEASALLS who made a
SURPRISE DROP-BY VISIT and played a
lengthy 45 minute session for FREE !.....
provided extremely, excellent-quality,
musical, entertainment for the really
wonderful audiences on all three evenings.
Now, tell me where else in this area can
you go for THREE FREE HOURS of Top
Quality Musical, Family-style,
entertainment each night and have a
Nationally known, Grammy Award Winner,
the stature of THE PEASALLS just drop-in
and spend a couple of hours with the
audience....for FREE ?????
I can't think of anywhere in the country
you can have that happen. Not even in
Nashville, Tn. This makes a total of EIGHT,
(8) FREE BLUEGRASS CONCERTS that
DELTA BLUE, a local Gospel Band has
organized, and produced for the
enjoyment of this community and anyone
else who desires to join in. Is there
anybody out there watching, listening,
understanding any of this at all?
There are no events of this nature taking
place in North Mississippi at all, not to
mention the Calibre of entertainment that
is available FOR FREE during these events.
HELLO.....Is anyone hearing this?
To accommodate Friends & Acquaintances
who have inquired about our SCHEDULED
PLAY DATES, here it is. See below.
We hope this will be of assistance to you
and sincerely hope that we will see you at
one or more of our future engagements.

For those inquiring about the continuation
of our FREE BLUEGRASS GOSPEL CONCERTS
++++++++++++++++++++++++++
At this moment in time, we have not
established a date in the near future for
the continuation of our BLUEGRASS
GOSPEL CONCERTS that were held in
JANUARY, FEBRUARY, and MARCH this year
at the M.R. DAVIS LIBRARY in SOUTHAVEN,
MS. We are searching for a DIFFERENT
facility to hold our next group of concerts.
The LIBRARY OFFICIALS had several
concerns that seemed negative toward our
musical concert efforts in their facility. The
only difficulty we or the audience had with
the facility was the LACK of CHAIRS for
SEATING the large number of people who
attended! The Library owns only
approximately 120 Cushioned Chairs. The
Architect's seating capacity is 250...?
Why the facility is 'under-stocked' with
Chairs is not known...? The authorities
were concerned that lawn chairs would
cause infractions of Fire Regulations...?
Therefore, we want to re-locate where the
facility managers welcome Family
Entertainment and the activities that go
with it. We are making a concerted effort
to find that location and will advise the
result just as soon as we land on it.
Thank You for your interest. RCain
Our BAND MEMBERS: 2011
D.C. WHITEHEAD is our BASS PLAYER.
D.C. (Daniel) does a GREAT job on the
upright bass, sings some vocal bass parts,
does solo vocals while he accompanys
himself on the guitar & bass! He is a great
& timely contibutor to our musical effort.
We THANK GOD for putting D.C. in our
lives.
Virgil Baker, our Dobro player and sub
Banjo picker on occasion, and song writer
is regularly participating in support of our
music ministry. GOOD DOBRO pickers are
as scarce as Hen's teeth! We feel fortunate
to have VIRGIL! Thank GOD & VIRGIL!
An exciting, pleasant-to-the-ear sound,
has been recently added to our band in
the form of JAMES H. COBLE who plays
Harmonica and a twelve string Guitar at
the same time! JAMES is also a talented
vocalist with a strong voice which provides
us with more variety in the vocals area. We
are happy and blessed to have JAMES in
our lineup!
BILL RINES, our Lead Guitar player and a
solid Pillar of our band, even though he
has had surgeries & injuries to contend
with, remains ever faithful to our effort.
We are grateful to GOD for BILL'S Guitar
experience and dedicated loyalty these
many years! THANKS BILL!
Just this Spring DB had another welcomed
addition to our group in the form of
BRUCE DUNAWAY, a tenor vocalist who
plays a FIDDLE, Guitar, can also play BASS !
Although his experience, according to
Bruce, is limited on those instruments, his
participation has proven otherwise. His
contribution in all three areas has given
our group a much needed inspirational
lift. We are a different sounding band with
BRUCE in our lineup. THANK GOD for
Bruce and Thank you too Bruce from all of
us!
RANDAL MORTON, National Banjo
Competition Champion 1975 in WINFIELD,
KANSAS, has graciously stepped in with a
VERY PROFESSIONAL MANNER to help keep
us active and progressing in our level of
play and quality of sound! Now that's what
I call 'giving back to the community'!
RANDAL already had a very busy schedule
with participation in several Professional
Music groups. He tutors dozens of
students on BANJO. He records via 'Special
Invitation' with many musicians in this area
on the side. He donates a tremendous
amount of time to various non-profit
organizations in Memphis promoting the
MEMPHIS MUSIC SOUND and assisting
them in their fund-raisings. A former
'side-man' with the famous Hawaiian
Singer and World reknowned Entertainer,
DON HO, RANDAL toured with DON HO for
several years and spent many years with
him at his Club in Hawaii. RANDAL is a
gem in the rough when it comes to Banjo
playing. It's been said that he knows the
Banjo Fingerboard better than anyone
around. He has shared live and recording
sessions with many high- profile, well-
known BLUEGRASS ICONS. Yet, if you are
privileged to sit down with RANDAL and
jam for an hour or two, his attitude and
manner is that of a simple, home-grown,
unassuming, regular picker. Every member
of DELTA BLUE considers it a blessing and
an extremely humbling experience to
have the opportunity to be associated with
RANDAL. What a pleasure to know and
enjoy the talent of a true professional
musician who considers anyone and
everyone around him to be his equal.
There is NO arrogance nor a single
fleeting indication of superiority in his
manner. There is no criticism, no
correctionism, no look of disappointment,
nothing but cooperation and
encouragement comes from RANDAL. It
has been an extreme pleasure for this
wannabee picker to get to know him. We
are so appreciative of his presence with us.
THANK YOU RANDAL and may GOD
continue to bless you in your career and
life! From all of us DELTA BLUE guys.
Rawley Cain (regretfully) remains our Lead
soloist while (ineptly) accompanying
himself on the Mandolin. We hope that
someday, via a bolt of lightning or some
super-natural intervention, you know GOD
is still in the miracle business,...he will
learn to play like the rest of the members
of DELTA BLUE.
KEVIN BAKER, son of Virgil Baker, has
stepped in on several occasions recently to
improve our Vocal sound with a beautiful,
strong, melodious Tenor & Lead Voice.
KEVIN is multi-talented on Guitar, &
Mandolin, as an instrumentalist & vocalist
he adds a broader spectrum of sound and
variety to DELTA BLUE. We Thank GOD for
allowing KEVIN to participte with us
whenever possible!
DELTA BLUE is a 'variety of style' vocal
group, with SIX acoustic instruments, plus
a Harmonica, sometime four-part
harmony, other times three part and two
part on occasion, organized to praise
JESUS CHRIST in song to the best of our
ability and allow the HOLY SPIRIT to lead
us in our effort. We are dedicated laymen
desiring to satisfy the musical hunger of
our active and incapacitated senior citizens
for the "Good, Old Gospel Hymns", by
playing the old hymns and gospel music
of previous generations; the ones not
heard much anymore. Our repertoire
presently consists of enough material to
enjoy for at least three hours plus. Usual
playing time approximately one hour.
For appearances at Nursing Homes,
Veteran's Homes, Special Benefits & Fund
Raisers, we DO NOT CHARGE A MINIMUM
FEE but, we ACCEPT DONATIONS and
HONORARIUMS of any denomination from
all these and other venues in support of
our ministry to those venues who provide
care for the aged and incapacitated but
have no budget or minimal finances for
professional entertainment. Our policy of
regarding NO FEE charge still remains.
However, with the rising price of a Crude
Oil and GASOLINE rising to $3.80 per
gallon plus just recently...that might
change in the near future. We submit to
all interested venues that you can
understand why we cannot continue to
offer our services to every venue free of
any cost. To all who have the budgeted
funds, entertainment reimbursement
funds, we humbly submit to you that a
minimum honorarium via collection,
donations, budgeted funds whatever the
method, should be seriously considered.
Otherwise we will soon have to cease our
ministry. We solely depend on GOD to
provide through the recipients of our
music. If they do not respond to GOD's
inspiration and decide not to support our
effort, then we will have no choice.
We have been active recently in the
'grassroots citizens' movement T.E.A.
PARTY (taxed enough already) providing
gospel and patriotic music, This is a
worthy effort by average citizens trying to
get the Voice of the People and their
desires heard in Washington DC. We
heartily encourage everyone to get
involved personally.
