The Distant Cousins Band goes back to 1982 with various reincarnations over the years. This particular lineup of band members has been together for about three years. The two original members are Jim Marsh, banjo player and vocals, and Mark Everett, mandolin player, both of Anniston, AL. Also currently in the band are Kelli Johnson, (guitar and lead vocals), Keith LaBenne, (bass and vocals), and Rick Goodwin, (guitar and vocals).
The band plays a well balanced assortment of original material and older material from a variety of sources, including pieces like "Queen Of The Road," Merle Haggards "Mama Tried," and the Bee Gees "To Love Somebody."
Band member Kelli Johnson contributes several compositions including the title song of their latest CD, "All I Wanted," and "Coming Home," while banjoist Jim Marsh contributes many interesting instrumentals such as, "Flathead" and "Spaghetti Western."
All in all, the Distant Cousins Band performs an inspiring collection of contemporary bluegrass that is eagerly sought after by bluegrass lovers of all backgrounds and ages.
