TENNESEE STUD D

1 Along about 1825 I left Tennesee very much alive

I never would have got through the Arkansas mud

if I hadn't been a riding that Tennesee stud

I had me some trouble with my sweethearts paw

And one of her brothers was a bad outlaw

I sent her a letter by my uncle Fudd

And I rode away on the Tennesee stud

Chorus:

The Tennese stud was long and lean

Color of the sun and his eyes were green

He had the nerve and he had the blood

And there never was a horse like the Tennesee stud

2 We drifted on down in to no mans land

Crossed that river called the Rio Grande

I raced my horse with the spaniards foal

'Til I got me a skin full of silver and gold

Me & the gambler couldn't agree, got in a fight over Tennesee

We jerked our guns and he fell with a thud

And I got away on the Tennesee stud

Chorus:

The Tennessee stud was long and lean…

3 I got just as lonesome as a man could be

Dreaming of my girl in Tennesee

The Tennesee studs green eyes turned blue

Cause he was a dreaming of a sweetheart too

We loped right back across Arkansas

Whoped her brother and I whoped her paw

When I found that girl with the golden hair

She was a riden that Tennesee mare

Chorus:

The Tennessee stud was long and lean..

4 Stirrup to stirrup and side by side

We crossed them mountains and the valleys wide

We came to big muddy then we forded the flood

On the Tennesee mare and the Tennesee stud

Theres a pretty little baby on the cabin floor

A little hoss colt playin' round the door

I love that girl with the golden hair

And the Tennesee stud loves the Tennesee mare
