Some Things I want To Sing About

I can still see mama stooped around those cotton stocks

If she picked one she picked a hundred then

Well me and all my brothers would take turn about

Draggin’ mama’s sack up to the scales

While little baby sister slept in peaceful sleep

Mama laid her in the trailer shade

My daddy was in Danville, workin for the railroad

When he was comin home we couldn’t wait

Chorus:

These are just some things I want to sing about

Memories I can’t live without

Diamonds buried deep down in my mind

Thoughts I can’t quit thinkin

A fountain I keep drinkin from

And the taste is getting sweeter all the time

I remember thinking town was where grandmothers live

Where brothers go to catch the bus and train

A treasured thought was daddy grinnin’ ear to ear

Every time we’d hear the old chuck wagon gang

Among the many things I can’t forget about

Was seein’ mama bowed in silent prayer

I’d turn and lift her slowly without her even knowing

There was ever anybody there

Chorus:

These are just some things I want to sing about…

(Repeat first line of chorus)

These are just some things I want to sing about
